Kolkata, Sep 5 (PTI) A low pressure in northwest Bay ofBengal led to heavy rains in Gangetic West Bengal today withthe weatherman forecasting downpour till Wednesday in thesouthern parts of the state. "Heavy rains is likely to occur at isolated places andmoderate rains at most places in the districts of southBengal, including Kolkata, in the next two days owing to a lowpressure in northwest Bay of Bengal and south Bangladesh,"regional MeT director G K Das said here. The intensity of the rain is likely to abate in Kolkatafrom tomorrow evening depending on the movement of the lowpressure system. Heavy precipitation started in the metropolis since thisafternoon, throwing rush-hour traffic out of gear owing towaterlogging in many areas.
