Pb women commission asks DGP to probe allegations by AAP MLA

Chandigarh, Sep 6 (PTI) Taking suo motu cognisance ofmedia reports about "exploitation of women" as claimed byDelhi AAP MLA, Punjab State Women Commission today askedDirector General of Police to investigate the matter. "We have taken suo motu cognisance of the reportsappearing in print and electronic media about the’exploitation of women’ in return of tickets. And we haveasked DGP Punjab Police to investigate the matter and submitthe report to the Commission," Commission Chairperson ParamjitKaur Landran said today. "The allegations pertaining to exploitation of womenin Punjab is very serious in nature which should be properlyinvestigated," she said. AAP MLA Devinder Sehrawat, in a letter to party’s nationalconvenor Arvind Kejriwal, had alleged "exploitation of women"by a few party men in return for tickets for the upcomingPunjab Assembly elections. However, AAP has rubbished the allegations of made bySehrawat. Replying to the Sehrawat’s charges, senior AAP leader andincharge of Punjab affairs Sanjay Singh asked the MLA tosubstantiate his allegation with proof. "I will file a defamation case against him and I willtake him to the court," Singh said, adding that party’s Punjabwomen cell head will lodge a complaint against Sehrawat instate women commission. Shiromani Akali Dal had yesterday asked Kejriwal to comeclean on the charges of "sexual exploitation of Punjabi womenby AAP leaders" and demanded immediate dismissal of bothSanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak from all party posts inPunjab.
