Telangana govt to provide Rs 1.5 crore to each new district

Hyderabad, Sep 6 (PTI) Telangana government today said itwill sanction Rs 1.5 crore each to newly proposed districtsfor construction of collectorates and district policeheadquarters. According to an official statement issued by ChiefMinister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s office, the Chief Minister heldreview meeting with senior officials and collectors of theexisting districts. "Rupees one crore for Collectorate and another Rs 50 lakhfor the police headquarters will be given to each of the newdistricts," the statement said quoting the Chief Minister. "Collectors should personally supervise development andwelfare activities of the government. I believe that districtswith smaller areas will help implementing various programmesaimed at improving the lifestyles of SC, ST, BC and poorpeople of the society," it said. The government had earlier announced that it would carveout an additional 17 new districts from the existing 10,making it to a total of 27. The government had already issued the draft notificationfor the new districts, seeking suggestions and comments fromthe stakeholders. PTI GDK MRJ RGMRJ
