Sex CD case: Block AAP MLA’s video links, Court to IT Ministry

New Delhi, Sep 9 (PTI) The Ministry of Electronics andInformation Technology has been directed by a special court toimmediately block internet links of the alleged objectionablevideos purportedly showing sacked Delhi Minister and AAP MLASandeep Kumar with a woman, who has accused him of raping her. The court’s order came as it allowed a plea of DelhiPolice seeking direction to the director of CERT to block andremove objectionable video clips and links from the ‘youtube’. "In view of submissions made, direction is issued to theDirector of Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN),Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Governmentof India… to block/remove the above said links withimmediate effect and compliance report be submitted … to theinvestigating officer (IO)," the judge said. The police, in its application, said the video clipsmentioned in the application are "highly objectionable,illicit and harm the modesty of a woman. … They are thusrequired to be blocked/ removed from the Internet/ websiteimmediately to maintain peace, law and order and modesty of awoman." Advocate Pradeep Rana, representing Kumar, denied theallegation that it was his client who was seen in the allegedobjectionable videos. 36-year-old Kumar, who was arrested on rape charges onthe complaint of a woman, was today sent to 14-day judicialcustody by the special court here after the police submittedhe was not required for custodial interrogation. He was arrested on September 3 after the woman approachedSultanpuri police station in North Delhi complaining of sexualharassment against the former Social Welfare and Women andChild Development minister, following which a case was filed.The woman had figured in an objectionable video with him. Kumar has been booked under sections 376 (rape), 328(causing hurt by means of poison with intent to commit anoffence) of IPC, under section 67A (punishment for publishingor transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act)of IT Act and Section 7 (public servant taking gratificationfor an official act) of Prevention of Corruption Act.
