156 sovereigns gold jewellery stolen from house of NRI

Kumbakonam (TN), Sep 11 (PTI) About 156 sovereigns ofgold jewellery were stolen from the house of an NRI at alocality in the city, police said. The NRI, working in Dubai, had gone to Athikadai villagein Tiruvaur district with family members yesterday to performthe last rites of his father-in-law. Neighbours this morning noticed the main door left ajarand informed police. Sniffer dogs were pressed into service. The family returned this evening and confirmed that 156sovereigns of gold jewellery had been stolen. Police said they are ascertaining the exact value of thestolen jewellery. PTI COR APRSMNMVV
