Mob attacks police team in Arunachal, 2 injured

Itanagar, Sep 11 (PTI) Two policemen were seriouslyinjured when a mob attacked a police team that went to SilatooMiri village in Namsai district in search of drug peddlers, anofficial said today. The mob attacked the police team with machete injuringtwo including sub-inspector D Singpho during its raidyesterday, Additional Deputy Commissioner M K Deori said. The injured policemen were shifted to a hospitalat Dibrugarh in Assam in a critical condition. The villagers also manhandled Namsai SP C K Mein and twoaccompanying officials who went to the spot on hearing theincident, the ADC said. Later, police reinforcement reached the spot andbrought the situation under control. Namsai is one of the districts in Arunachal Pradesh whichis badly affected by the drug menace. PTI UPL NNASV
