Puducherry, Sep 12 (PTI) The Centrally sponsored JIPMERhere will embark upon enhanced security and fire safetymeasures to rise to the growing demand following increase inpatient turnout. A five member team of Central Industrial Security Forcewill be camping in the institute for four days from September15 and review the present security and safety measures in thehospital and institute. It had been proposed to bring JIPMER on par with thesecurity and fire safety systems in vogue in the othercentrally sponsored institutes like AIIMS and also in IndianInstitutes of Technologies across the country, a release fromDirector of JIPMER Dr S C Parija said today. He said that the need for augmenting the securitysystems and also fire safety measures had been felt with thestrength of patients at the OPDs and also number of visitsbeing on the rise every day. He said that around 7500 patients seek the service ofthe hospital in various departments daily while 25,000visitors come to the hospital every. Presently the JIPMER has a strength of 280securitypersonnel and already 115 closed circuit television camerashad been installed. A Security Advisory committee has also been functioningwith the guidelines of the Senior Superintendent of Police ofPuducherry Rajiv Ranjan and Col (retired) Vijayaraghavan. A team of CISF under the head of Senior Commandant NSridhar will be camping in JIPMER for four days from September15. A team of fire service security team would also be campingin JIPMER from the CISF to make JIPMER one of the safesthospitals.
