Karna govt failed to prevent violence against Tamils: BJP

Puducherry, Sept 13 (PTI): BJP today charged the Congressgovernment in Karnataka with having failed to prevent violenceagainst Tamils on Cauvery water row. President of the party’s local unit V Saminathan said ina release here that the Karnataka government, instead ofobeying the Supreme court`s directive to release the specifiedquantity of water Tamilnadu "has acted in such a manner as todislocate the implementation of the court order". He said the BJP condemns the violence against Tamilsand damage to their properties in that state Saminathan demanded that the Karnataka governmenttake stern steps against those who had resorted to violence. He said people from different states have been livingcordially with the locals in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. HenceKarnataka government should take steps to ensure that peoplefrom other states lived in peace there, he said.
