action plans Guwahati, Sep 20 (PTI) The Union government will putemphasis on state-specific problems of the North Eastas a special case while formulating action plans,Union Panchayati Raj and Rural Development MinisterNarendra Singh Tomar said. At a meeting of Member of Parliaments from North Easthere, Tomar underscored the Centre will consider onemphasising the state specific problems of the region as aspecial case while formulating action plans in coming days. "The Central government is very much concerned aboutoverall development of the rural areas of the North Easternstates," he added. While highlighting on the priorities of ruraldevelopment, Tomar stressed on the united efforts ofCentre-State and informed about the vision of implementingrural road connectivity by 2019. The minister also informed about the government’s othertargets related to development of rural areas across thecountry in coming years. Addressing on the occasion, Union Minister of State forRural Development Ram Kripal Yadav spoke in length on the keyissues of rural development, its monitoring system and goodgovernance framework. Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohainstressed on taking necessary steps for maintenance of ruralinfrastructure, including road and electrification. The participating MPs raised the drinking water problemin Guwahati and other parts, issue of AADHAAR cards in Assam,flood problem, soil conditions hindering the construction ofroads, salaries of rural development officials and generalisedscheme guidelines among others.
