‘Maha govt to partner HP to digitally empower 28,000 villages’

Mumbai, Sep 20 (PTI) The Maharashtra government isexpected to join hands with Hewlett Packard Enterprise with anaim to digitally transform 28,000 villages across the state. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is on a two daytour to the USA, visited HP in San Francisco and had a meetingwith CEO Meg Whiteman. "HP is keen to partner with Govt of Maharashtra forMahaNet-an ambitious program of GOM to take digital fibre to28,000 Gram panchayats," the CM said on Twitter. By digitally empowering these 28,000 villages, it willensure efficient governance, best healthcare and educationfacilities, Fadnavis tweeted. The Chief Minister,who left for the trip on Sundaynight, reached San Francisco late yesterday. He is in the US to participate in the Oracle OpenWorld 2016. Fadnavis is the first CM invited there to delivera keynote address before the global tech experts. Fadnavis on reaching San Francisco said the agenda ofhis visit was "Maharashtra’s economic growth and employmentgeneration." Oracle will sign an MOU with the state government todevelop a comprehensive ecosystem for Smart City initiative(which includes funding and nurturing three smart cities ofKalyan-Dombivali, Mira Bhayander & Pimpri Chinchwad).
