The release said the government held its seminalinvestment promotion road show in association with theConfederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Mumbai, under thebanner – Momentum Jharkhand Global Investors’ Summit 2017. It was the campaign’s second rendezvous with Mumbaifollowing the maiden meeting of the Jharkhand InvestmentPromotion Board (JIPB) in July this year. "JIPB is a special body for planning and executingstrategies to enhance Jharkhand’s position as a globalbusiness centre," the release said. Speaking on the occasion Jharkhand Urban Developmentminister Chandreshwar Prasad Singh said "The government ofRaghubar Das, on being given the people’s mandate, in a matterof just 20 months, achieved political stability for the state. "Our governance systems are focusing on makingJharkhand cities more amenable to housing global communitiesof investors through a strong focus on the social sector,principally healthcare, education and public recreation." "We call upon investors to invest in our smart cityproject on Public-Private Partnership basis," he said. Besides solid waste management, multi-modal urbantransport and housing for all were key sectors in which thegovernment was soliciting investments, the release said. Speaking on the occasion, Jharkhand HRD minister NeeraYadav stressed on the centrality of the skills developmentagenda of the government in this campaign. "MoUs have been signed with CISCO, ORACLE and HewlettPackard among global corporations in the field of skillsdevelopment, so that Jharkhand is ready for the next phase oftechnology leveraged industrial diversification. "This strategy will greatly develop the support systemthat Jharkhand’s key industries need to compete globally.Jharkhand’s present higher education gross enrolment ratio is16.1 per cent. "But, I am convinced that soon we will vault over thenational average and start aspiring to better globalstandards. We aim to set up over 600 institutions of highereducation over the coming years. I call upon privateinstitutions to partner with us in our mission," she said. In her keynote address, Chief Secretary Rajbala Vermasaid "Given that Mumbai accounts for a large chunk of thecountry’s industrial output and national GDP, we have comehere again to make Jharkhand more visible to the investors ofthis city." Verma also highlighted some recent MoUs signed by thegovernment of Jharkhand. "We have successfully matched investment opportunitieswith global industry trends – through focused and dynamicpolicies catering to a wide spectrum of sectors. Thesepolicies are indicative of the larger intent of businessreforms," she said adding Jharkhand was about to launch adedicated Start-up Policy and a highly responsive e-mentoringsystem for start-up entrepreneurs, and that the Chief Ministerrecently supervised the inking of MoUs with 42 serviceproviders in the area of skills development. Jharkhand Industries Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwalpresented the state’s diverse investment opportunities to theaudience, the release said. "The Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy, 2016forms the basic framework of our mission to make Jharkhand themost business friendly state in India. There are severalinvestment ready projects, information on which is publiclythrough our publication. "The projects span across sectors such as smart citydevelopment, electronic manufacturing, BPO, food processing,industrial parks, healthcare and education, etc. We havesucceeded in concurrently establishing thriving systems ofsingle window clearance, time bound grievance redress,industry consultation mechanisms and multi-pronged incentiveschemes," he said. Barnwal said Jharkhand’s air-cargo hub would beinaugurated soon. On the start-up front, Barnwal said the stategovernment has brought on board a team from IIM Ahmedabad tohelp set up a centralised Start-up Incubation Facility. On the sidelines of the roadshow, the government wasscheduled to interact with several venture capitalists topromote the government’s Start-up strategy, the release added.PTI PVRDKB
