After India, other nations pull out of SAARC Summit

Date:

A new twist in South Asia, came after Indian PM cancelled travelling to Pakistan for SAARC summit to be held in November. The reasons mentioned for which were, “cross-border terror attacks” and “non conducive environment” for meeting.

Three other nations joined India and pulled out,- Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Bhutan – have pulled out of the meet.

It seems like other countries also had problems with Pakistan. As, Bangladesh has said in a communication, “The growing interference in the internal affairs of Bangladesh by one country has created an environment which is not conducive to the successful hosting of the 19th SAARC Summit in Islamabad in November 2016.”

India has given a pitch to their aspirations!

Though, this could be seen as a symbolic support gesture, as summit cannot take place even if one country withdraws.

Pakistan said it is unfortunate, but blamed it all on India. “As for the excuse used by India, the world knows that it is India that has been perpetrating and financing terrorism in Pakistan,” a communique said. “It is India which has violated the international law and UN charter by interfering in the internal matters of a sovereign state, Pakistan.”
