The water at Mumbai‘s Juhu Beach is turning fluorescent blue these days, isn’t that exciting? The rare natural occurrences are known as ‘bioluminescence’ which is caused by dinoflagellate, a plankton found in coastal areas.
The churning of sea waves which disturbs the plankton causing them to release blue light. Assistant Professor Dr Parvish Pandya, called this phenomenon a mystery and said:
This lovely phenomenon is a must-see for Mumbaikars. It can surface anywhere, and that’s the mystery.
This thing occurred in Mumbai last January and it was after a long time it again took place. As reported by the Nat Geo Traveller, Dr Parvish Pandya said:
“The bioluminescence can be spotted for a few more nights. It’s most visible under a dark sky.”
What an amazing thing mother nature is!
