Antara was attacked on a footpath in Talawade, about 22 KM from Pune, around 8:35 PM, when the street lights were off. She ran towards people screaming “Bachao, Bachao” and collided with the motorcyclist.

Satyandra Krushnanand Sinha (36), who was on his way home took the help of a passing car and rushed her to a nearby hospital, but the doctors declared her dead.

“Antara Das was taken to a nearby hospital. However, she was declared dead on arrival,” a senior police officer said.

Sinha later registered a complaint with the police. He told the cops that the attacker was wearing a T-shirt with black and blue stripes. The police are yet to identify the attacker.
