Akali-BJP combine will again form govt in Punjab: Shahnawaz Hussain

Date:

Mukerian (Punjab): BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain on Tuesday claimed that development was “visible in each and every corner” of Punjab and added that no one could stop the Akali-BJP coalition from retaining power in the state.

Addressing a congregation during the Punjab BJP Alpsankhyak Morcha Sammelan, he appealed for a thumping victory of the ruling coalition in the state so that the wave of development continued in Punjab under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The people of Punjab should stop thinking about the other parties because the Akali-BJP combine is the only option they have. Just like the dreams of (Congress chief) Sonia Gandhi and (Congress vice president) Rahul Gandhi have been washed away across the nation, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh’s dream of coming back to power will also not come true,” said Hussain.

The BJP leader alleged that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal had “wiped away” the expectations of the people of Delhi “with his broom” (AAP’s poll symbol) and expressed hope that the voters of Punjab would not fall into his trap.

Hussain said the BJP had “equal respect for every religion and community” in the country and offered the example of the party appointing people from different faiths to top posts as evidence to this.

He said the party’s minority front conference was symbolic of communal harmony and brotherhood with members of all communities taking part in it.

Hussain praised the prime minister for the demonetisation decision, claiming that it would usher in a “new era of transparency and honesty”.

Lambasting the Congress and other opposition parties, the BJP leader said those involved in huge scams should not preach honesty.

Addressing the gathering, Punjab BJP chief and Union minister Vijay Sampla said, “The only party which can safeguard the interests of the minorities is the BJP. I thank the minority communities for showing faith in the party.”

On demonetisation, he said, “This brave decision might have created some initial problems. Still, the country is rallying behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The step was necessary for the bright future of the country.
