Uttar Pradesh goes polling in the fifth phase on Monday for 51 seats spread over 11 districts.
A total of 608 candidates are contesting in this phase with a maximum of 24 candidates in Amethi and a minimum of 6 each in Kapilvastu and Etwa seats of Siddharth Nagar district.
Prominent contestants in this phase include:
Gayatri Prasad Prajapati (SP), who will be facing Amita Singh (Congress) and Garima Singh (BJP) in Amethi, the Lok Sabha constituency of Rahul Gandhi.
The fate of ministers of Akhilesh government like Vinod Kumar Singh known as Pandit Singh from Tarabganj (Gonda), Tej Narain Pandey, referred to as Pawan Pandey from Ayodhya and BSP state president Ram Achal Rajbhar from Akbarpur will also be decided in this phase.

15:00: Amid heavy security arrangements, an estimated over 40% of 1.81 crore voters cast ballots till 2 PM during the fifth round of polling in Uttar Pradesh today.
11.05 am: An estimated 12 to 13% of voters turned out to exercise their franchise till 10 AM
09.35 am: 10.77% voting in Uttar Pradesh fifth phase assembly elections till 9 am
08.20 am: Congress Amethi candidate Amita Singh with husband and Congress MP Sanjay Singh cast their vote.
08.00 am: Gayatri Prajapati, SP Amethi candidate cast his vote. After casting his vote he said, “I am winning with a huge margin and Samajwadi Party govt under Akhilesh ji will be in power again.”
