One carriageway of Delhi-Gurgaon expressway at Hero Honda chowk to be operational from Saturday

Date:

Commuters on the Delhi-Manesar Expressway will get some relief soon as the one side of the Hero Honda Chowk flyover — from Manesar to New Delhi — will be opened to traffic.

According to a report in HT, the one side of the flyover will be operational from Saturday bringing relief to at least a lack of commuters daily.

The 1.4km flyover is expected to significantly reduce snarls at the major intersection that witnesses heavy traffic from Jaipur, Pataudi, Manesar and other parts of northern Gurgaon.

“Except for the installation of streetlights, work on one side of the flyover is almost complete and will be opened before March 25,” Ashok Sharma, project manager, NHAI, quoted in the report.

Sharma added that electric poles have been put up and only the installation of LED lights is pending on that side of the flyover.

The work on the flyover, built at a cost of over Rs 145 crore, began on February 2015 with Valecha Engineering Ltd selected as the concessionaire for the project.

The deadline for the project is May 27, 2017, but NHAI officials said it is unlikely that the flyover will be ready by then.
