New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the 30th edition of his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’, on Sunday hailed Mahatma Gandhi and recalled the bravery of the freedom fighters.

“The Champaran Satyagraha showed us how special Mahatma Gandhi was and how unique his personality was,” said Prime Minsiter Modi.

He further said that India is marking 100 years of Champaran Satyagraha and this was one of the first Gandhian movements in India.

“When Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were hung on March 23, their faces displayed satisfaction that they are serving their Motherland. They were not scared of death. They lived and died for the nation,” he said.

He added that Mahatma Gandhi returned to India and in two years he went to Bihar and what he did inspired the whole nation.

“No words can do justice to the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. They continue to inspire us,” Prime Minister Modi said.

The 30th edition is Prime Minister Modi’s first radio programme after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received a thumping majority in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and managed to form coalition governments in Goa and Manipur.
