Apple’s iPhone 8 with dual rear camera set-up?

Date:

After the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ flagship smartphones, the Cupertino tech-giant, Apple, might be packing the speculated iPhone 8 with a dual-camera setup.

The information was published by iDrop, which claims that the upcoming 2017 iPhone will be called ‘iPhone Edition.’ While we have been hearing that since the past few months – what the fans were probably unaware of was that the device is rumoured to pack a dual camera setup.

The website even published a mockup of the ‘iPhone Edition,’ based on the feedback provided by sources who are aware of Apple’s future plans.

As per information showcased in the image, the iPhone Edition looks similar to the recently-launched Galaxy S8. The device packs a dual-curved screen with minimal bezels on top and bottom along with an OLED panel with 2.5D glass protection.

What’s different is the back of the device. The dual rear camera setup is placed vertically and the LED flash is placed right below the capsule-shaped camera setup. The fingerprint scanner is located at the back.

None of the above given information has been confirmed by the company yet.

Separately, ccording to a report published in The Bell and spotted by MacRumors, OLED technology requires less power than LCD displays and produces brighter colors.

If Apple does make a full-on move to OLED, LCD producers, some of the manufacturers who have been experimenting with more flexible designs to stay relevant in increasingly dynamic smartphone ecosystem, could be cut off from the iPhone entirely.

Apple is planning to make 60 million iPhone 8 units with OLED displays this year—about 40 percent of their production overall, according to the report. The Cupertino based manufacturer is also planning to double the number next year, also presumably one lower-tier version of iPhone will have the LCD display, and by 2019, OLED display will become the standard across all iPhone lines in 2019.

This year may see the new iPhone 8 with the OLED display, Iphone 7S and 7S Plus units which will retain the LCD displays and be the incremental updates to the iPhone 7 model.

The latest iPhone 8 will be touted to come along with a lot of updates like the OLED display, new sensor system, a function area embedded into the screen to replace the home button for TouchID, and wireless charging. All of these updates are slated to increase the cost of the iPhone 8 to more than $1,000.
