Largest IT hub in Nort East India opens in Tripura

North East India’s largest sixth and largest Information Technology (IT) hub was inaugurated on Monday in Tripura by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) Director General Omkar Rai and IT and Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty accompanied the CM in the ceremony. This IT hub is built keeping in mind to generate employment and attract foreign companies in Tripura.

It cost around 50 crores to build this IT hub. Tripura got an award from the central government for its performance in IT sector and e-governance. This led to motivation in setting up a big IT park.

IT and Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty said “over 30 lakh people, or 80 percent of the state’s 37 lakh, are now using mobile phones leading to an IT boom.
Principal Secretary, Industries and Information Technology, M. Nagaraju said that the place is ready and the IT Park seeks various start-ups, aspiring Entrepreneurs, national and multinational companies to incubate the big space available.
