Goa is all set for zero tolerance to drinking at public places. After several complaints by the tourists about broken glasses on beach and roadsides, Goa police has decided to crackdown drinking at any open land or public spots.

“We received a lot of complaints, both from tourists as well as locals, about people cutting themselves on broken liquor bottles while walking on the beaches as well as swimming in the sea. Therefore we have given instructions to the police to crack down severely on drinking of alcohol on beaches,” Supretendant of Police, Karthik Kashyap said in an interview.
“There are enough occurrences of nuisance and inconvenience to the general public due to this drinking”. People who would be found drinking openly will be booked under Section 34 of Indian Police Act.

All the popular beaches like Beaches, Calangute, Baga will now be under police vigilance to catch the offenders.
Goa being the number one foreign tourist spot for India and it is quite famous for its liberal attitude towards drinking.
