Balochis hold demonstrations against CPEC

Date:

Geneva [Switzerland]: The Baloch Republican Party (BRP) held demonstrations outside the United Nations office in Geneva during the ongoing 35th session of Human Rights Council to highlight Baloch genocide and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

They raised pro-freedom slogans and demanded UN intervention to save the people in Balochistan.

The protest was attended by members of the BRP from several European countries. The protesters also highlighted the genocide and grave human rights violations by Pakistan Army in Balochistan.

Baloch activist Mansoor Baloch said, “We are here to raise our voice for the Baloch people especially against Pakistan on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as it is a ‘strategic design’ by Pakistan and China to loot Balochistan’s resources and corridor has nothing to do with the development of Balochistan.”

“Thousands of Balochis have become homeless because the Pakistan Government is dealing with China and CPEC is of no use to Balochistan,” he added.

The protesters raised slogans and banners of ‘stop the genocide of Baloch people’, ‘we want peace’ and ‘Baloch want Freedom’ slogans during their demonstration and highlighted mass human right violations committed by the Pakistan forces in Balochistan.

The demonstrators held banners, scribed with various slogans reading “No to Pakistan, Free Balochistan.”

“We want that international community should take note of the atrocities committed by the Pakistan Army and also appeal to the global leaders to break their silence on the heinous crimes that the Pakistan Army is committing in Balochistan. Most of the Balochis were compelled to flee Balochistan because of their support for the freedom struggle,” Abdul Nawaz Bugti, representative of BRP at UNHRC said.

BRP spokesperson Sher Mohammad Bugti said, “We have been staging protests for many years so that the international community take into account the genocide of Balochis by Pakistan and seek UN intervention to act against Pakistan on the atrocities done by them.”
