Date:

India retained Blind Cricket World Cup trophy by beating arch rival Pakistan by 2 wickets in the final at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 308 runs, India kept their calm to go past the target despite losing 8 wickets.

An India-Pakistan clash is known for its thrill and the history it beholds and the game went down to the wire.

Chasing a target of 308 runs to retain the title, India had stormed to 101/1 in just 14th over but Pakistan got the big fish in the form of Prakash, who was run out. India lost another wicket in the form of run-out and the match opened up once again with India reduced to 119/3 in 16 overs.

Sunil Ramesh and Ajay then added more than 150 runs for the 4th wicket but just when India looked like running away with the game, they were dealt a major blow. Ramesh was cleaned up by Amir Ishfaq for 93 and that opened the gates for Pak. They pounced on the opportunity to first dismiss skipper Ajay and followed it up with few more wickets but India held nerves.

Earlier, Pakistan made a competitive 307/8 in their quota of 40 overs. Pakistan had a good opening stand as they added 66 runs in the first 11 overs. Mosin Khan was the first one to be dismissed after scoring 31 runs. Deepak was the wicket taker. Amir was then run out by Sunil for just 10 to reduce Pak further.

Badar Munir scored a half century as Pakistan then upped the ante and increased their scoring rate.

India had continued their rich vein of form as they defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets at the MCC Ground in Ajman to book their place in the finals of the fifth edition of the tournament.

Pakistan, on the other hand, had qualified for the finals after thrashing Sri Lanka by 156 runs in the semi-finals of the tournament on Wednesday. (India vs South Africa: Two new pacers are flown in ahead of 3rd Test at Johannesburg)
