At least 17 people died after fire broke out on Saturday at a plastic godown in Delhi’s Bawana industrial area. Ten fire tenders have been pressed to the spot.
A few workers are still feared to be trapped inside the factory. Fifteen fire tenders managed to douse the flames but rescue operations are still underway, Chief Fire Officer Atul Garg said.
The Delhi Fire Service received a call about the fire at the factory around 6.20 pm. “The firefighters have removed nine bodies,” a Delhi Fire Service official said.
Meanwhile, the police have disagreed on the death toll claimed by the fire department, and said four people have been killed in the fire.
