Trump completes year in office, boasts of ‘unprecedented success’ amid shutdown, Women’s March

Date:

Nothing fazes the United States President, Donald Trump. It seems that for him, success has totally different meaning when it has to do with him or his presidency. One of the most-controversial US President in the recent history completed a year in office amidst an ongoing government shutdown and a country-wide Woman’s March.

However for him, it’s been an “unprecedented success” of the country under his administration. The President took to his favorite communication method and tweeted, “Unprecedented success for our Country, in so many ways, since the Election. Record Stock Market, Strong on Military, Crime, Borders, & ISIS, Judicial Strength & Numbers, Lowest Unemployment for Women & ALL, Massive Tax Cuts, end of Individual Mandate – and so much more. Big 2018!”

The tweet marks the anniversary of the day Trump took office last year.

The US Government shutdown at midnight, Friday after Democrats and Republicans locked in a bitter dispute over immigration and border security and failed to agree on a last-minute deal to fund its operations.

The Bill needed 60 votes in the 100-member Senate, but only 50 supported it.

Trump immediately moved to blame the Democrats.

“Tonight, they put politics above our national security, military families, vulnerable children, and our country’s ability to serve all Americans,” the White House said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Senate Democratic Leader, Charles Schumer has branded Trump as an unreliable negotiating partner, stating that working with him is “like negotiating with Jell-O.”

Schumer drew a comparison to the wobbly gelatin dessert, saying, “Negotiating with President Trump is like negotiating with Jello.”

“It’s next to impossible. As soon as you take one step forward, the hard-right forces the President three steps back,” Schumer added.

On that note, people across the country grabbed their homemade signs, pulled on their pink pussy hats, and poured out into the streets to protest in the second annual Women’s March.
