US strikes again in Pak; Tehreek-e-Taliban’s Khalid Mehsud neutralised

New Delhi: In a significant development in the war against terrorism, the United States on Friday carried out a drone strike on Haqqani Network compound in Mameet Mela Garweek, North Waziristan Agency.

Reportedly, three terrorists have been killed of commander Qudratullah faction of Haqqani Network.

The latest incident is said to be the second drone attack by the US on Pakistan soil.

Reports suggest that Khalid Mehsud aka Khan Syed Sajna, current deputy of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and chief of the Mehsud Halqa faction has been killed in drone strike in Margha, Barmal, Afghanistan Three bodyguards including Ismail, his nephew has been killed.

On January 17, in the first drone strike of the year, one man was severely injured in Kurram agency’s Badshah Kot area near the Pak-Afghan border. Drone strikes have surged in Kurram agency in the wake of US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a new Afghan policy in August, in which Pakistan was also accused of offering “safe havens to agents of chaos”.

Pakistan has repeatedly said that drone strikes on its soil are a violation of its sovereignty and denies the charge, saying it acts against terrorists without discrimination.

Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour was also killed in one of such strikes in 2016.
