Oscars chief John Bailey accused of sexual harassment

In what came as a shocking incident to all of us, John Bailey, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is being investigated for cases of sexual harassment filed against him, according to the reports.

Reports said after getting to know about it, the publication immediately started investigations after receiving three sexual harassment complaints against him on Wednesday. His brief tenure has been marked by the birth of the #MeToo movement started by actress Alyssa Milano and which went global, highlighting accusations of sexual abuse.

In December after the reports of Harvey Weinstein’s accusations of sexual harassment and abuse by dozens of women, the academy adopted codes of conduct, Bailey promised that the Academy would adopt a “greater awareness and responsibility in balancing gender, race, ethnicity, and religion.”

“The fossilized bedrock of many of Hollywood’s worst abuses are being jackhammered into oblivion,” he said. The Academy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
