Nirmala Sitharaman slams Rahul Gandhi saying his speech sounds like “the rhetoric of a loser”

Date:

Congress President Rahul Gandhi likened the BJP to “power-hungry” Kauravas, and the saffron party in response attacked the Congress president, calling his speech the “rhetoric of a loser”. “It sounds like the rhetoric of a loser devoid of substance,” Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman said.

Sitharaman also accused the Congress of being “solely responsible” for the anti-Sikh riots in 1984, terming it “a party that cried over the dead bodies of terrorists.” “A party which questioned the fundamental existence of ‘Shree Ram’ today wants to be identifed with the Pandavas,” mocked the minister.

“Rahul Gandhi attacked Veer Savarkar just to make his family responsible for freedom,” Sitharaman said, referring to the Congress chief’s allegation that “Savarkar wrote a letter to the British begging for mercy and clemency.”

Responding to Gandhi’s allegations against BJP president Amit Shah, Sitharaman said that they were part of a “fake and falsely motivated campaign”.

“It’s astonishing that the Congress president chooses to name BJP president Amit Shah and calls him a murder accused. He has been cleared by a court. This is a fake and falsely motivated campaign by someone who is out on bail on a criminal conspiracy of fraud in National Herald case,” she said.

The BJP claimed that the Congress does not believe in “transparency” and so they are “against” technology, including EVMs.

Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad too supported his colleague’s remarks and said the Congress chief’s “rant was shameful.”

Earlier today, Gandhi came down heavily on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, invoking the Mahabharata to compare the “power-hungry” BJP and RSS to the Kauravas.

“Like the Kauravas, the BJP and the RSS are designed to fight for power. Like the Pandavas, the Congress is designed to fight for truth,” Gandhi said during his address at the 84th Congress plenary.

“India expects more from the Congress because it holds us to a higher standard than any other party.”

In his speech, Gandhi admitted that “in the last few years of our last government, we did not stand up to the expectations of the people of our country.”
