Brian Acton, the co-founder of the giant messaging platform WhatsApp which was sold to Facebook in 2014 for $19 billion, has joined the #DeleteFacebook campaign, following Facebook’s data controversy.

The row involves British data firm Cambridge Analytica, which is accused of exploiting 50 million Facebook users’ personal data to influence the US elections.

After the revelation, “#DeleteFacebook” campaign was trending on Twitter.
Since the sale of Whatsapp, Acton has been actively financing more secure (and private) messaging platforms for users.
Acton has already used some of his Whatsapp wealth to give $50 million to the Signal Foundation.
