#deletefacebook movement reaches Bollywood, Farhan Akhtar quits Facebook

Date:

It seems the Delete Facebook movement has reached Bollywood. On Tuesday, Farhan Akhtar had announced the permanent deletion of his Personal Facebook Account. Nevertheless, his verified Facebook page is still active.

Following Cambridge Analytica’s revelations about harvesting and misusing data from more than 50 million users of Facebook, the firm is facing worldwide criticism.

The Silicon Valley-based company has 2 billion monthly active users now and following the global outrage, the social media company has sustained a loss of USD 50 billion in market value.

Farhan Akhtar becomes the first Indian celebrity to quit the social networking site in the wake of the Facebook data misuse row.

Farhan took to his official Twitter handle on Tuesday morning and wrote, “Good morning. This is to inform you all that I have permanently deleted my personal Facebook account. However, the verified FarhanAkhtarLive page is still active”.

Though he hasn’t revealed the exact reason behind this move and we cannot say this move as a part of the delete Facebook movement because Farhan’s verified Facebook Page is still active.

Elon Musk recently deleted the official pages of SpaceX and Tesla after a Twitter conversation on the Delete Facebook movement.

On the work front, Farhan Akhtar is gearing up for Don 3. Though there is also some news coming that Farhan will also act in this film, playing desi top cop to SRK’s Don.
