Here’s what upsets filmmaker Karan Johar the most

Date:

Karan Johar is one of the most successful filmmakers the industry has seen. Karan has directed immensely successful films like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ (1998), ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ (2001), Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) among others. Karan Johar was recently crowned the most followed filmmaker on social media. However, while this helps him have a wider access to his fans, it also gives way to the menace of online trolls.

Speaking about his social media reach, the filmmaker said, “The love and candidness that one experiences validate the work we do.” Karan, weighing in on its pros and cons said, “The hazard is definitely the trolls and sometimes the intense negativity that one is also subjected to.”

When probed about how he deals with that, the filmmaker promptly replied, “At first, it used to upset me, but now, I have developed an armour of indifference and many a time I am also amused by some of the derogatory comments I read about myself. Initially, I remember giving it back; but in time, I realised I am only empowering the lonely and unfortunate trolls on planet social media.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Karan Johar is all set to collaborate with Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, and Dibakar Banerjee once again in the Netflix film titled ‘Lust Stories’. The film is a collection of four stories which will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Ashi Dua and will feature an ensemble cast.

While Karan Johar’s part of the story features  Vicky Kaushal along with Kiara Advani and Neha Dhupia, Anurag Kashyap’s story stars Radhika Apte and Sairat actor Akash Thosar. Bhumi Pednekar will be seen in Zoya Akhtar’s film while the part directed by Dibakar Banerjee stars Manisha Koirala. The directors had earlier collaborated for ‘Bombay Talkies’ (2013) which celebrated hundred years of Hindi cinema with four short stories that showcased the power of the medium.
