Kate Middleton admitted to the hospital in early stages of labour

Date:

Kate Middleton has been admitted to hospital in labour with her third child, it has been announced.

Kensington Palace tweeted on Monday morning (April 23) that the Duchess of Cambridge was taken to the private Lindo wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London as she prepares to welcome her third baby with her husband Prince William.

“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London earlier this morning in the early stages of labour,” the statement reads.

“The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.”

The baby prince or princess joins the couple’s two children Prince George and Princess Charlotte and will be fifth in line to the throne after Prince Charles, William, George and Charlotte.

The news of a royal birth is traditionally announced outside the Buckingham Palace. Large crowds gathered outside in July 2013 to see the announcement of the arrival of William and Kate’s first child.
The couple announced his name, George Alexander Louis, and that of their daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, a couple of days after each was born.
Several bookmakers have favored a few names for the couple’s third child that are Arthur, Albert and Frederick for a boy, and Mary, Alice and Alexandra for a girl.

Prince Harry, who is currently fifth in line to the throne, will be bumped to sixth in line.

The news comes just days after members of the royal family gathered to celebrate the Queen’s 92nd birthday with a concert bash at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night. Kate was absent from the festivities as she her due date neared.

A group of devoted royal fans have been camped outside the hospital since April 9 in anticipation of the royal baby’s birth.
