The Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb, who has a reputation for making controversial statements, has yet again spoken out. This time he targeted Miss India World 1997 Diana Hayden.
Earlier he had spoken about Indian history and had said that there were satellites and internet during the times of Mahabharata.
“This is that country in which Sanjaya was sitting and telling Dhritarashtra what was happening in the Mahabharat war. That means technology was there! Internet was there, the satellite was there…”
But this time he has imparted his ‘Gyan’ on international beauty pageants and the business behind them.
While taking a jibe at the Miss World 1997 Diana Hayden, he said that she was unworthy of the crown, the Chief Minister then added that earlier used leaves to wash their hair, but now they don’t.

“Earlier Indian women used local leaves to wash their hair instead of shampoos to get rid of dandruff”, the North East today and several other publications quoted him as saying.
He further said that businessmen take advantage of the fact that Indians are winning the international beauty contests and hence used this as an opportunity to market their products.
Biplab Kumar Deb went on to say that once these international companies are done selling and building their markets in India, the frequency of Indians winning beauty pageants will go down.
During his speech at Pragna Bhawan, in a design workshop on handloom products, Deb was further quoted saying, “Diana Hayden was totally unworthy of being Miss World. It was a pre-fixed plan of the international market to attack upon Indian local products due to which whoever was taking part in Miss World pageants was winning it… constantly 5 times in a row, Miss World from India, can you imagine? How can Diana Hayden become Miss World by representing Indian culture?”
He then compared Diana Hayden and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and said:
“Aishwarya can still represent Indian beauty”.
As per the CM’s statement, real Indian beauty should be like Goddess Laxmi and Saraswati but the same traits are missing in Diana Hayden”.
And then Twitterati was on with their reactions

Someone should tell the Tripura CM Biplab Deb to do some duty instead of boo some beauty.
