Mohammed Shami fooled BCCI: Hasin Jahan accuses the cricketer of age-fudging

Date:

Fomenting further trouble for Team India pacer Mohammed Shami, his estranged wife Hasin Jahan has levelled a fresh allegation on him.

After accusing Shami of domestic abuse, rape, match-fixing and infidelity, Hasin Jahan has claimed that Shami hid his real age and forged his birth certificate to play national and state-level cricket under a specific age-category. Jahan even posted a picture of Shami’s driving licence on Facebook to prove her claim.

However, later she deleted the post.

In her now deleted post, Jahan had also claimed that Shami fooled the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to play Under-22 cricket.

In her post she claimed that Shami made a fake birth certificate and fooled everyone by showing his birth year as 1990. He fooled BCCI, CAB and also public by making a fake birth certificate that allowed him to play Under-22 cricket, she said in her now deleted post.

Prior to this, Hasin Jahan had made a shocking claim that her case is similar to the Kathua rape case.

“Those who are guilty of the crime should be punished. Even my case is similar to this. But I am alive. Even I have been subjected to what happened in that case. They had planned to rape me, kill me and then dump my body in a forest. It’s been almost two months that I am fighting against all this,” Jahan had said.

Earlier on April 26, Delhi Daredevils bowling coach James Hopes had hinted that pacer Mohammad Shami’s personal problems in recent times may have affected his game. The 28-year old fast bowler has had a rough time off the field with his wife Hasin Jahan filing a police complaint against him for domestic violence and accusing him of match-fixing.

“I think he has got some personal stuff going on. And it’s tough to concentrate on the job sometimes. Players try to use cricket as a release. Everywhere you have to sort out your off-field stuffs before you start performing on the field. He is in the process of doing that and it obviously is going to take some time,” Hopes said of Shami.

“This season is not yet over for him and we are aware.”

The bowling coach was speaking on the eve of the beleaguered franchise’s game against Kolkata Knight Riders tomorrow.
