65th National Film Awards: Boney Kapoor breaks down as Sridevi gets honoured

Bollywood filmmaker Boney Kapoor broke down after his late wife and actress Sridevi was posthumously honoured with the National Award for Best Actress for her performance in ‘Mom’ at the 65th National Film Awards held in New Delhi on Thursday.

According to reports, Boney Kapoor was in tears after Sridevi’s name was announced, following which he and his daughters Janhvi and Khushi went on stage to collect the National Award. The award was presented by President Ram Nath Kovind to Sridevi’s family.

Speaking to ANI, Boney Kapoor said he was happy and proud that Sridevi had won the ‘highest honour’. He said he missed Sridevi and would have preferred her to accept the award.

“I am extremely happy and proud. This is what she’s got after working for 50 years in the industry; she would have cherished this award all her life. This is the highest honour. We miss her and today we miss her even more. I would have preferred, she going and accepting the award and me and my children sitting down and clapping for her,” Boney Kapoor told ANI.
