Several states are on alert after the weather office and the Centre warned of thunderstorms accompanied by squall, hail and heavy rains across the country.

* Thunderstorm accompanied with squall (wind speed reaching 5070 kmph) and hail very likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Bihar and SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim.
* Thunderstorm accompanied with squall (wind speed reaching 5070 kmph) very likely at isolated places over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal.
* Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, South Interior Karnataka, north Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Tamilnadu and Kerala.
* Thunderstorm/ duststorm very likely at isolated places West Rajasthan.
* Heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Tamilnadu, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala.
The wind speed is predicted to touch 50-70 kilometres per hour. Delhi government has announced that all evening schools across the national capital will remain closed.
In the national capital, the Delhi Traffic Police on Monday advised commuters to plan their journey after checking weather conditions. In the wake of the warning, the Delhi Metro, too, has decided to exercise extreme caution in running trains. In fact, Delhi Metro commuters might face delays in their journey depending on wind speeds.
