Hit by a bug, WhatsApp now allows blocked users to send messages

Date:

WhatsApp has been hit by a new bug that allows messages to be received from already blocked users. Further, it also allows blocked users to view status updates. Other features like their last seen and profile photo can also be viewed even if the person is blocked.

Many users have taken to Twitter and other social media platforms to express their wrath about this update. The main reason of blocking somebody is to not receive any sort of messages by the blocked contact but also not to have any contact with them over social media. However, the new bug eliminates the basic reason for blocking the contact, thus allowing them to send messages.

The bug seems to have spread even on iOS and Android phones. However, there seems to be a quick fix to the problem. The user can just unblock the account and then block them again.

Another way in which this can be done is by blocking the contact from the contact list and then by muting the blocked contact’s chat.

However, the issue is very serious and needs to be fixed soon. Previously, there was another bug that hit WhatsApp, whereby touching a certain WhatsApp logo shared on groups would automatically freeze the phones.

However, WhatsApp has not commented on the issue and WeBetaInfo that provides information about such glitches has claimed that the bug is from the server-side and many users continue to be affected by it.
