Virat Kohli seen back at the nets in Mumbai

Skipper of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli was back at the nets on Wednesday with the team’s assistant coach Sanjay Bangar, after a suffering a neck injury two weeks back. He was seen at the indoor nets at the Bandra-Kurla complex, in Mumbai, according to media reports. He is expected to continue with a similar schedule the following week, said reports.

Kohli suffered a neck injury in an IPL match due to which he will miss the county cricket season at Surrey, his first overseas contract with them. He was scheduled to play at least six games for the county.

It is expected Kohli will be fit for India’s Test series in England, which is due to begin on 1 August. Before that the Indian team will play two T20 matches against Ireland on June 27 and 29, followed by three T20 internationals and three one-day internationals against England in July. The T20 series will start on July 3 followed by ODI series on July 12 and eventually the five Test series starting August 1.

The 29-year-old will undergo a fitness Test in Bangalore on June 15, a day after the one-off Test between India and Afghanistan.According to media reports Kohli will take the flight to Ireland along with the rest of the Indian team on June 23 and will be available for all matches.

Media reports say that Kohli had to skip Surrey to ensure his fitness for the tour of England. He’s taken necessary breaks for recovery which is why he sat out of the last T20 game in South Africa and did not play for the Nidahas Trophy. He is expected to recuperate over the next two weeks.
