Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee recovering well; AIIMS hopeful to discharge in few days

Date:

New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is recovering as the AIIMS Dr Randeep Guleria on Wednesday updated the media on the condition of Vajpayee who was admitted to the premier medical institute on Monday.

Here’s what Dr Guleria said:

“Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee was admitted on June 11 at AIIMS. He had come with urinary tract infection, chest congestion and also, urine output was on the lower side.

He was immediately seen by a team of senior doctors at AIIMS and because infection was suspected, he was given injectable antibiotics. Because the urine output was low then, on that day, a slow dialysis was also given because of his low urine output.

He has shown significant improvement over the last 48 hours. His urine output has improved and his kidney function is back to normal. His urine output is also near normal. His infection is under control and he’s showing good improvement. His blood pressure, respiratory rate and heart-rate are all normal and are being maintained without support. His laboratory parameters are also normal and are showing good values which we are happy with. We are very hopeful that he should make a full recovery over the next few days and hopefully, we should be able to send him home in the next few days.

So he’s now showing good improvement and overall, his health is good.”

Rahul Gandhi even politicised the health of the former PM, saying at his speech in Mumbai that he was the first to visit Vajpayee at AIIMS.
