Hollywood actor George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney are donating $ 100,000 to help migrant children. These children were separated from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border.
According to reports, they were quoted saying, “at some point in the future when our children will question us ‘Is it true, did our country really take babies from their parents and put them in detention centres?’ and when we will answer yes, they might ask what we did and said about it. We can’t change the administration’s policy but can help defend the victims of it.”
Several media reports have mentioned, nearly 2,000 children were taken away from their parents in a six-week period in April and May under the new Trump administration policy
Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order to “keep families together,” reversing his administration’s policy.
According to the report, the Young Centre’s executive director, Maria Woltjen, expressed her gratitude to the couple saying, “We are doing everything we can to advocate on behalf of the thousands of children who are separated and alone, and we are grateful for the generous support of George and Amal Clooney and the Clooney Foundation for Justice – it could not be more vital at this time.” The power celebrity couple welcomed their own kids in June 2017. In February, the couple donated around USD 500,000 in the name of their eight-month-old twins, Ella and Alexander, for a march calling for stricter gun laws in the United States.
