Travellers may need to forgo snacks found in check-in baggage at airport

Date:

The checklist of items to discontinue in check-in baggage on flights is just increasing every now and then. The list is just getting longer and security personnel at the airports are becoming more and more stringent about it.

Some time back, some agents of Transport Security Administration (TSA) had started requesting travellers at airports to remove any food items from their check-in luggage. Till then, however, the policy was just a recommendation by the TSA to make the baggage screening process easier.

Now, though, this policy is becoming more concrete and it seems that it would be implemented soon, leaving travellers disappointed. The reason for this policy is to speed up the screening process and assist the agents to spot explosive devices more easily. However, the result of this policy implementation could be the opposite as well, since travellers, if stubborn might take longer by getting into tiffs with the security agents at the airports.

If needed, sealed food items or packed food items are easier to carry and reduce the hassle of travellers themselves. So, instead of carrying them loose, travellers should either buy sealed packets or pack the snacks in ziplock bags.

Despite of the complaints of passengers at the airport, the policy recommendation has already helped the authority as well as passengers to cross the security screening faster to board the flights.
