Speaking to the media, the victim’s sister claimed that the former was allegedly trafficked on the pretence of being offered a job by an agent.

“Earlier, my sister was in financial crisis and she was approached by an agent. He offered a caretaker job in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She left for Saudi on 1 October 2016, after going there my sister was employed as a housemaid and not as a caretaker. Her employers started harassing her a lot. My sister was beaten up by her employers many times. They even use to lock my sister up in a room for days if she asks for salary,” she said.

The victim’s sister further said that when the former went to a hospital for treatment, the hospital management didn’t allow her due to lack of adequate documents.

Owing to the difficulties faced by the victim, her family has appealed to Swaraj and the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia to rescue her and bring her back to India.
