Alyssa started her journey with space through a NASA Space camp in Huntsville, Alabama when she was 7 years old. She became the first person to attend all three NASA space camps, in Huntsville, Canada and Turkey, at the young age of 12.

At an age when girls played with toys Carson had set her goals. She even had an official nickname, given by mission control, to talk to talents, Blueberry.

Alyssa is training herself for a two to three year mission, which will include a stay of one year on Mars to study possibility of life on the planet and an attempt to know its history.

NASA is helping Alyssa work on getting her pilots license, training her for underwater survival and getting scuba diving certification.

To all the children like her Alyssa has one thing to say, “follow your dream.”
