A 61-year-old heart patient from Jodhpur named Premlata Gehlot got the shock of her life and almost had an attack after losing the complete savings for her life that amounted to Rs. 4 lakh. Premlata forgot her bag that had the money in the auto rickshaw and got off and realised after a while that their bag was missing.
Nanji Nayi, the driver of the auto rickshaw, however, spotted the lady and returned her bag which immensely heartened Gehlot and her husband who were travelling in the rickshaw. The cash had been accumulated for a by-pass surgery for which Premlata was due.
On Tuesday, Premlata and her husband Dharmnarayan Gehlot reached the city bus depot Thaltej and boarded Nayi’s auto rickshaw to reach the hospital for the surgery. On the way, the couple stopped at a place for refreshments and Premlata forgot her bag full of Rs. 4 Lakh in the rickshaw when they reach the hotel. Suddenly, both of them remembered the bag that got left behind.
Nayi spotted the bag while cleaning his auto rickshaw and although, for a minute his heart skipped a beat on seeing so much cash, he immediately realised that it was for the lady who he dropped at the hospital and that she needed it more than him. He along with his son and son in-law went to the Vastrapur Police Station and a luck could have it, they found the couple sitting at the station.
She thanked the driver and said that her life would have been in danger if she would not have got the cash back. Her doctor also said that the surgery was a life-saving procedure for her as there were three major blockages in her heart.
