Former national champion, Sourabh Verma, who just recovered from injuries has advanced into the Russia Open finals by defeating his Indian counterpart Mithun Manjunatha by 21-9, 21-15 on Saturday. The eighth seed, Verma will meet Japan’s Koki Watanabe in the finals.
Earlier, Verma had thrashed Israel’s third seed Misha Zilberman by 21-14, 21-16 and Mithun had subjugated Malaysia’s Satheishtharan Ramachandran by 21-18 21-12 in the quarter-final match.
While in the mixed doubles, the second-seeded Indian pair of Rohan Kapoor and Kuhoo Garg have entered the summit clash after beating Malaysian combination of Chen Tang Jie and Yen Wei Peck by 21-19, 11-21, 22-20. They will now face Vladimir Ivanov of Russia and Min Kyung Kim of Korea in the finals.
