Lalu Prasad Yadav surrenders before CBI court in Ranchi

Former Bihar Chief Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav surrendered before the CBI Court, Ranchi on Thursday in connection with the fodder scam case. The Jharkhand High Court earlier rejected his bail extension plea and asked him to surrender on August 30.

Lalu was found guilty in the fodder scam case and was imprisoned in the same. However due to his poor health he was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai. The bail extension plea was put by Yadav, for three months extention following his bad health. On August 17, his bail plea was extended till August 27 by the Jharkhand High Court.

Lalu has been convicted in four cases of the multi-crore rupees fodder scam. The cases related to illegal withdrawl of the money from government treasuries. On September 30th, he was convicted in the first fodder scam case. He was again convicted in another case on January 24, 2018. On February 23 and March 19, he was convicted in cases related to the Deoghar Treasury and the Dumka Treasury respectively.
