Two trekkers died, one injured after falling into crevice at J&K

Two trekkers died and one got seriously injured after three of them fell into a deep open crack at the Kolanhio Glacier in Kashmir. Officials said that at least 10 trekkers were coming back from Kolahoi Glacier when the three of them fell.

Officials said that the rescue teams were sent to the rescue spot immediately and the state government also sought the help of Indian Air Force and Army. The persons killed in the incident are identified, Naveed Jeelani and Adil Shah. Naveed was a Jammu and Kashmir Excise and Taxation Officer and Adil worked with Alpine group- a tour a travel group in Jammu and Kashmir. Another trekker who was seriously injured is identified as Hazik.

Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan has requisitioned an Air Force helicopter through the Civil Aviation Department and sought the army’s help to bring out the dead and the injured from the crevice and airlift the injured to the hospital.
