Sensex gains 131 points, Nifty settles at 10512, Infosys rises 3%

The BSE Sensex closed 131.52 points up at 34,865.10 on Monday while the Nifty 50 ended 40 points, higher at 10,512.50 in a follow through of the last trading session (Friday, Oct 12).

Benchmark indices turned volatile as investors became cautious in the first week of second-quarter earnings amid negative cues from global markets. The rupee fell against the dollar, tracking losses in Asian currencies as crude oil prices gained. Oil prices rose as tension over the disappearance of a prominent Saudi journalist stoked supply worries.
