NewsMobile Impact: Authorities to rethink about the road plan through Aravalli Biodiversity Park

Date:

Gurugram: In a NewsMobile impact, government’s proposal to build a road connecting Gurgaon and Delhi through the lush green Aravali Biodiversity Park has forced the authorities to rethink about the proposed plan so that the project does not affect the park.

According to the latest reports, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar discussed the project with Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) CEO Vivek Joshi during his visit to Gurugram.

The proposed road project starts from Vasant Kunj in Delhi and ends at Gurugram-Faridabad Road —

“In the current proposal by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the road cuts through the biodiversity park. Officials are now proposing that it be built along the boundary of the park instead and connect with MG Road,” a senior government official was quoted by ToI.

Meanwhile, the state government is exploring to shorten the road project and ending it at MG Road.

Environmentalists are, meanwhile, planning a protest on Sunday morning against the new road. “This park has been developed with the blood and sweat of residents over the last decade and we already have multiple Delhi-Gurgaon links. I do not understand the need to come up with another road at the cost of sabotaging a forest,” said Chetan Agarwal, an environment analyst. Activists are also planning to move court against the project.
