What once was a family restaurant is now remade into a children’s museum after months of thoughts, ideation and finally implementation. The Children’s Museum of Idaho comprises gigantic murals of trains, planes, and farms along with a giant pirate ship and a cave for local rocks and plants.
The museum will be the first Treasure Valley’s museum is all geared up for its grand opening scheduled for December 2 this year in Meridian from 1.00 PM – 5.00 PM.
A space is being created for the kids where they can learn and explore in an unconventional unstructured way. Exhibits will be showcased by the staff and guides would accompany them with additional information and unknown facts.
The Treasure Valley will be able to accommodate approximately 90,000 children below 10 years of age at one time, according to the Idaho Demographic Analysis.

23 exhibits have been planned for the launch of the museum with each one focusing and built around aspects such as creative play, social studies, and Idaho’s history and ecology.
The idea while creating the exhibits was to provide a blend of fun and education under one roof. The kids will, however, be permitted with at least one adult at the museum.
To ensure uniqueness and freshness, the staff would be rotating the exhibits and replacing new ones every two years.
Current exhibits include a rocket with space facts, a dino pit, a pirate ship, a plan with facts about flying, a bank that would provide information about saving and spending, and a comprehensive work area for learning the user friendly tools such as 3D printers.
The farm at the museum would exhibit the incredible milking cow that includes the process of milking and production of milk and eggs.
The museum also has a mini pizza parlour and a popular store – Trader Joe’s, where the visitors can learn and practice the skills of picking groceries and learn the self-checkout techniques.
Adding to the fun, a Toddler Town is also created in the museum that has foam blocks and toys for kids under 4 years of age along with a cave that provides information about the native plants, insects, rocks and gems of Idaho.
